OUR MISSION STATEMENT OF FAITH
​
The Mission of the Houston Citywide Baptist Brotherhood​ Union and Women Uplift is to win the lost to Jesus Christ and strengthen them in Christian Faith. The objectives include winning souls to Christ through evangelism, mission, and education; developing a cadre of Christian Men and Women who are committed to training for leadership; the intense and in-depth recruitment of committed churchmen and church women who are willing to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the Church walls; studying of the Word, prayer, and special laymen's studies needed for nurturing of boys, young men, girls, and young women in the faith.
Becoming Bible teachers in the home and at Church; and demonstrating Christian conduct in speech and dress that will provide mature role models for young women.

Psalm 119:105-109
Memory verse for the week:
Psalm 119:2 - Blessed are they that keep his testimonies and that seek him with the whole heart.
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;
Psalm 34:15 NIV
The longest psalm in the Bible is a song about the priority of the Word of God. For 178 verses, Psalm 119 holds high the words and wisdom of God and convinces us to treasure it more than anything else in life.

Why is this challenge so crucial for us? Leaders in our world face two realities:
​
1. Change happens faster than ever, so leaders must remain adaptable.
2. We need timeless values more than ever, so leaders must remain principle driven.
​
Psalm 119 provides a roadmap for getting the wisdom, values and principles we need to lead effectively. Consider what Psalm 119 teaches about accepting God's Word as our source for leadership principles.
a. be blessed - (vs. 1,2)
b. remain pure and ethical (vs. 9-11)
c. be strengthened and revitalized (vs. 28, 149, 154-159)
d. insightfully answer criticism (vs. 42)
e. enjoy liberty (vs. 45)
f. gain wise counsel when needed (vs. 66)
g. remain steady even when afflicted (vs. 67-72, 92)
h. display more insight than our teachers (vs. 99-100)
i. be enlightened and intuitive (vs 105, 130)
j. have a reliable guide even for new issues (vs. 129, 180)
k. enjoy inward peace and poise (vs. 165)
l. get divine help (vs. 173-175)
